Most students go out to internships for at least 3 hours every Tuesday afternoon.  They  either have an internship mentor who works with them in the host organization or the students go out as a group to work with an expert in a certain field.  For instance one advisory might work with a stream restoration project while another spends the afternoon at an elementary school assisting younger children  Each intern is expected to complete a project that is of real use to the host organization.

A project is a purposeful activity that involves planning, execution, and evaluation.  It can be an esthetic experience or complex problem that begs for a solution.  By the 11th grade students complete 2-3 major projects a year.
